How to Cancel the Automatic Renewal of Subscription on the App Store

It is possible from an iPhone or an iPad to subscribe to a number of different services from the AppleApp Store: newspaper or magazine subscriptions, game subscriptions, SVOD subscriptions(Netflix, CanalPlay, HBO Now, OCS, Molotov TV, Amazon Prime etc.), streaming subscriptions…

As far as music is concerned, even if Spotify is the major player in USA by the number of subscribers and its international reputation, there are other audio streaming offers such as Deezer, Apple Music, Tidal, Qobuz, Google Play Music, Napster, Soundcloud etc… They offer similar services (which however deserve to be examined carefully) with a library of several million titles and prices that can vary from 5 to 25 dollars depending on the number of connected devices.

These services are accessible by subscription via the Apple application store and usually cost from a few dollars per month to a few dozen dollars . They usually offer a free trial month to test the application before subscribing.

But how to cancel a subscription taken on an iPad or an iPhone and suspend its automatic renewal: without any action on your part, your subscription will be renewed every month and billed by Apple via the App Store.

There is no need to request the cancellation directly from the service you are using since Apple manages the subscriptions from the App Store and you will have to go through your iPhone or your iPad to cancel a subscription.

How to Cancel A Subscription on iPhone or iPad?

  1. Press the Settings icon on the home screen.
  2. In the left menu, press iTunes Store and App Store.
  3. Press on your Apple ID (top right).
  4. In the new window that opens, click on Show Apple ID. Enter your password if prompted.
  5. Press Subscriptionsm
  6. Click on the subscription you want to suspend and then press Cancel Subscription.

Please note: in step 6, stopping your subscription is not the only action as you can also change the option for your subscription.
For example, in the case of Netflix, this is where you can determine how many screens can connect to Netflix simultaneously.
